Capacity
The capacity of a barn is 400 stones.
Feeding animals high quality food will increase the rate at which they gain quality. Animals are not limited to the quality of the food they eat. For example, a boar eating 97 quality apples will gain quality faster than if it was eating quality 50 apples, but it could raise to quality 100 eventually either way.
Testing indicates that all animal buildings have an internal (not displayed) hygiene rating. If the building fills to 100% of its dung capacity or animals die inside of it, the building's hygiene will decrease. Low hygiene can kill animals or lower their quality, and it persists inside a building for several in-game days.
The quality of a barn has no impact on the speed with at which animals level inside it eat, breed, or produce dung. Unlike crafting buildings, animal building quality only determines the total hit points of the building.
