Revision as of 06:31, 10 January 2015

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Please post new topics at the bottom of the page by clicking "edit" above and scrolling to the bottom.

Current Issues

(deleted previous current issue, because it's nothing we can fix, to make room for a new one) Un Registered users making new pages.

I know other admin's can see how often I delete the pages, and while I have no issues doing so, I don't believe we need the ability for unregistered users to make new pages.
Can we restrict the wiki so only people who've created accounts can create a new page, other than the many many ip address I've started blocking each time they create a new page?

Math Calculation error

While editing some of the common ore weights I've noticed if I type .125 the weight is 1000 off, so to weight a bar you have to type 1000 when the stone weight is only 1 Camberme (talk) 01:03, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Category issue?

The forging category for Forging devices is named Forging, instead of Category:Forging devices like the other device categories (Category:Cooking devices) I don't want to create another Category page and cause confusion. Camberme (talk) 02:32, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

  • I have created (some) categories related to the skill, for example that Category:Forging, but I havent updated everything yet. So any forging device should be in Category:Devices (any crafting station being considered a device) , Category:Forging (any information related to forging) and probably Category:Forging devices (any device that is used for forging) . But then again, I'm just a random person, so I'm just presenting my view :)
Edit: I have noticed that you're actually using the term Forging devices - I guess feel free to create the redirect and/or the category, but I would like to keep Category:Forging for general stuff related to forging, do you think it's okay? Zennie01 (talk) 12:42, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
    • The other skills (like cooking) use Category:cooking devices to list the things that cooking can be done on, since different level of things can be done on different buildings. like for forging, a Sword can be made in a Forge and Anvil, but also in a Black smith shop. so listing one is "not helpful" I'm just thinking the wiki should be normalized ya know? I like the redirect idea though if the Category:Forging can't be changed. or maybe just a sub category needs to be added? Devices/Tools/weapons/armor/misc.
      • Um no I think I didn't express myself clearly, sorry. I will try other example, smelting. Category:Smelting devices is a technical category needed to fill Item template properly for miscellaneous metal stuff like ingots and whatnot. However, you cannot put Crucible and tongs into that category, because you actually need furnace/bloomery. But Crucible and tongs, apart from the fact that it is Category:Tools, is also related to Smelting. So my idea is to create additional - logical - category Category:Skillname and put all related stuff there. Zennie01 (talk) 18:57, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
    • edit, Seems like theres a bigger underlying issue then, the categories for cooking devices might just be in the wrong place since there is one for devices as a whole, maybe it should just have sub categories? So everything would be Category:Devices Sub category Forgeing/smelting/cooking/woodworking/whatever?Camberme (talk) 16:39, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Today 12/17 (9:30 am) I've decided to work on Categories. Expect alot of changes, please wait until mid day to discuss any changes, I should remember to post here when I am "done" or taking a break. I will be using two google docs to document progress if you want to watch, [visual tree] and [text documentation] Camberme (talk) 17:30, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

  • on hold family issue, will be back at it shortly (first edit didn't do what I wanted so I need to re think what I'm doing anyways) Camberme (talk) 18:11, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Table of Contents confusion, using headers

I'm creating / copying the interactive faq from the main forums, to here, just for quicker reference. I would like to Table of Contents to be able to hide the different numbers in it (the headings I am using to break up the questions. (1-10. 11-20 and the like) I don't know how to hide those headings inside the ToC though? Camberme (talk) 20:09, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

  • How does that look with the hidden ToC at least? Thebigschnoz (talk) 15:48, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
    • Now you can hide the whole ToC which is nice, but I was thinking if you wanted to hide sections of the toc, like what you've already read, but that doesn't really matter :)Camberme (talk) 17:44, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
